The same gesture, brought indoors. In museums and galleries the practice of subtraction turns on doors, billboards, vehicles and gallery walls themselves — each exhibition a temporary excavation site, each city another layer of the record.
Two decades of shows
The record opens with a first solo in Lisbon in December 2006 and the 2009 London show that named the signature carving method. From there it widens: institutional solos across Brazil, a city-scale takeover in Hong Kong, a first Beijing museum solo at CAFA, and large-scale institutional shows in Paris and Los Angeles.
The current museum run — MAAT Lisbon, MIMA Brussels, MUCA Munich, the Ulsan Art Museum — sits with the signature works. This page holds the depth behind it: the landmark exhibitions of the first two decades and the steady gallery circuit that ran alongside them.
