Vhils Studio is the authorial core of the Cultural Affairs collective — fine-art production, research and editions built around a single, uncompromising body of work. What began in the street in 2005 became a studio practice in Lisbon in 2010, incorporated the following year.

From carved portraits across Rio's oldest morro to a monumental azulejo mural at the Gare d'Orly on the Grand Paris Express and a reef on the Atlantic floor, the work moves between the civic and the institutional while keeping the same gesture at its centre: remove to reveal.

The practice now answers at every register — a state portrait for the Portuguese presidency, national representation at a world expo, walls and facades from Riyadh to Ibiza — without ever loosening the author's hand.
