Cultural Affairs

A group that works with art and culture as vehicles of change — for institutions, brands and cities. The Lisbon collective built around the practice of Alexandre Farto (Vhils), umbrella over five platforms: a studio, a gallery, a festival, a phygital gallery and a ceramics house.

Commotion — Council of the European Union, Brussels · 2021 · José Pando Lucas

We curate, we grow, we support artists and creative people — a group built as scaffolding around one practice, structured to protect the liberty to keep making the work.

The model

Cultural Affairs is not a conventional holding company. It is a collective: five platforms, each running its own programme, over one shared spine of production, curation, legal and logistics — around fifty people, based in Lisbon. Because production, permits and delivery are shared, a commission signed in Paris, Giza or Brussels is carried out by the same team that carved the first Lisbon walls, and one conversation reaches all five platforms.

One conversation reaches the whole group

A single conversation reaches all five platforms of the collective.
